WebDIRECTOR FAQs

General

Can I update my website myself?

Yes. WebDIRECTOR runs on a Content Management System (CMS) which means you can easily update your website without the need for special skills or software.

Having a website with out-of-date and irrelevant information is a poor advertisement for a business, so the WebDIRECTOR platform is designed to make updating your site as simple as possible.

Do I need technical knowledge in order to use it?

No! WebDIRECTOR is quick and easy to use. You don’t need to learn how to design web pages or upload files. The basic structure of the site remains intact whilst you alter the text, graphics, or any other content whenever you wish. We can also provide you with training and a full support service.

Does this mean anyone could change our website?

No!  Changes to the site are made using an administration page, which is accessible only to authorised users.  Nominated site administrators simply require a password and web access in order to make changes.  This secure system means nobody else can make any alterations to your website.

But won’t it be very time-consuming if I have to update timed information myself?

No! WebDIRECTOR does it for you. Any item on your site can be ‘timed’ to start and finish on a particular date. This is particularly useful for news items and events, because as soon as the date has expired the item is automatically removed from your site.

Does the site ‘go down’ while I’m making changes to it?

No! You can edit and approve one version of the site while the public continues to view the original. When you have completed any changes, a click of the mouse makes the new version ‘live’.

But don’t panic if you change your mind – you can still roll back to the old version at any time.

Does it matter how big my website is?

No.  WebDIRECTOR is flexible enough to integrate with sites of all sizes. Some have just a few pages, whilst others have thousands.

WebDIRECTOR stores website content in its own database, but can also use external data, searching, displaying, and even editing information from other databases.

Some areas of my site are only accessible to certain customers. Can WebDIRECTOR do this?

Access to particular pages of the site can still be restricted to registered users. WebDIRECTOR can also track visitors to the site and will recognise them when they return.

Who uses WebDIRECTOR?

Businesses of all sizes, from small one-man-bands, to large organisations such as:

WebDIRECTOR has also proved extremely popular with design agencies, who find the added database capabilities invaluable because programming expertise is not required.

How reliable is the product?

WebDIRECTOR has been repeatedly tried and tested with outstanding results. All features are written into the software, so you can be assured of outstanding reliability.  You are not paying for development or being used as a guinea pig!

What computer system do I need for WebDIRECTOR?

WebDIRECTOR requires a Windows 2000/2003 server to be running Internet Information Server (IIS). A database connection to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 is also required.  WebDIRECTOR can be administered from most web browsers.

I’ve seen other software packages called Content Manager. What’s different about JK CONTENTmanager?

WebDIRECTOR has been around for a lot longer than most other content management packages, and offers proven success. We listen to our customers’ needs and use our many years of experience to provide a tool which actually benefits their businesses. In fact, we have yet to find a competitor’s content manager package which offers anything like the quality and flexibility of WebDIRECTOR.

If you have any other questions about the WebDIRECTOR website platform, phone IRUN now on 01425 600105.  Alternatively, you can email us, and one of the team will call you.
